Glenn Lumber Company was founded in 1948 by Albert Glenn. Originally he had a retail shop that had the capabilities to furnish everything necessary to build a house. In the 1950's he transitioned the business to a portable sawmill. Albert bought standing timber and manufactured the lumber on the tract of timber. Starting in the late 1970's Albert and son John Glenn began construction on a stationary mill. They worked on the sawmill on Saturday's and when is was to wet to run the portable sawmill in the woods. In 1981 Glenn Lumber began operations at the new mill located on 145 Rockford Road Boiling Springs, NC. In the late 1980's low grade hardwood lumber began to be difficult to sale. In response to these circumstances John Glenn expanded the business adding a pallet mill. Currently the pallet mill and sawmill are operated by John's sons James and Lee Glenn.
